This unroasted and unburned yolk nougat is an artisan nougat of a lifetime.
This egg yolk nougat is made by hand in our factory in Jijona with a centuries-old recipe that uses almonds, candied egg yolk and sugar in different proportions. It is one of the oldest nougats and appears in our first nougat catalogs.
This Yolk nougat is a traditional nougat from Catalonia and its origin, according to legend, is that in Jijona a salesman made a mistake when buying the eggs needed to make the typical Jijona and Alicante nougats (where the egg white is used) and bought more than twice as many as necessary and, so as not to throw them away, he invented a kind of egg marzipan that resulted in this nougat. Later, sugar was added and toasting or burning began, thus giving rise to Catalan cream nougat or toasted yolk nougat.
Unroasted Yolk Nougat contains egg and milk so it contains lactose and egg.
Ingredients: Sugar, almond (35%), egg yolk (11%), water, milk powder (2%), vanilla essence and preservative E-200. May contain traces of other nuts, sesame, milk, soy and peanut. Store in a cool, dry place. Gluten free product.
