Buying toasted yolk nougat is traditional at Christmas time.
Its origin, according to a legend, is that in Jijona a salesman made a mistake when buying the eggs needed to make the typical Jijona and Alicante nougat (where the egg white is used) and bought more than twice as many eggs as necessary. Yolk nougat without toasting or burning.
Whether the legend is true or not, today it is one of our best-selling turrones, along with the traditional ones. This is a gluten-free and lactose-free nougat. However, it is not suitable for vegans as it contains toasted candied egg yolk.
