Buying toasted yolk nougat is traditional at Christmas time.
Its origin, according to legend, is that in Jijona a salesman made a mistake when buying the eggs needed to make the typical Jijona and Alicante nougat (where the egg whites are used) and bought more than twice as many as necessary, so as not to throw them away, he invented a kind of marzipan with eggs that resulted in an unroasted and unburned egg yolk nougat .
Whether the legend is true or not, today it is one of our best-selling turrones, along with the traditional ones. This is a gluten-free and lactose-free nougat. However, it is not suitable for vegans as it contains toasted candied egg yolk.
