This untoasted and unburnt egg yolk nougat is a timeless artisan nougat.
This egg yolk turrón is handmade in our Jijona factory using a centuries-old recipe with almonds, candied egg yolk and sugar in different proportions. It is one of the oldest nougats and appears in our first nougat catalogs.
This egg yolk turrón is a traditional turrón from Catalonia and, according to legend, its origin lies in the fact that in Jijona a salesman made a mistake when buying the eggs needed to make the typical Jijona and Alicante turrón (where the egg white is used), ending up buying more than twice as many as needed and, so as not to throw them away, he invented a kind of egg marzipan that led to this turrón. Later, sugar was added and toasting or burning began, thus giving rise to Catalan cream nougat or toasted yolk nougat.
The Untoasted Egg Yolk Nougat contains egg and milk, so it contains lactose and egg.
Ingredients: Sugar, almond (35%), egg yolk (11%), water, milk powder (2%), vanilla essence, and preservative E-200. May contain traces of other tree nuts, sesame, milk, soy, and peanuts. Store in a cool, dry place. Gluten-free product.
